Regency House History

The Regency House was built in 1964, initially as a luxury apartment building. Designed by George H. Schoneberger, Jr., AIA, it was one of the first high rise residential buildings constructed in Phoenix.

In 2004, the owners voted overwhelmingly to accept a comprehensive proposal by Copeland Interiors, Inc. to redo the common area interiors. The stately mahogany paneling and bronze mirrored walls were retained, but all other aspects were redesigned. Of special interest: the artwork in all common areas consists of black and white photographs (76 different ones!) of historic downtown Phoenix. Many residents worked together to acquire, identify, and prepare these pictures during a day-long "framing party".

The project was honored at the 2005 ASID Arizona North Chapter Professional Awards, where it won First Place in Hospitality Design, as well as Best of Show, Commercial.
